Bev Aisbett
Bev began her career as a cartoonist in the major press with her strip "Animal Revenge" in the Sydney Herald magazine. This was followed by regular illustrations for Terry Lane's column in the Sunday Age, cartoons in the Bulletin, Womam's Day and strips in New Woman and New Weekly magazines, as well as illustrating numerous educational, health and corporate texts.
In 1994, she founded and directed the HaHa Gallery of Comic Art featuring works by Australian cartoonists. And in 2003, upon moving "over the bridge", she founded Salmay Gallery in Newport, which she directed for two years.
However, the main focus of her work has now centred on painting, with her images proving popular for their mythical, dream-like themes.
Her painting "Man and the Moon" was exhibited at the Ballarat Fine Art Gallery in 2006 as part of "The Serious Side of Cartoonists" exhibition during the Stanley Awards events.
In June 2007, she was signed with "Without Pier" Gallery, Cheltenham and "Le Phare" Gallery in Queenscliff 2008.
