Paul Becker
Paul is a self-taught watercolour artist and commenced teaching himself pastel painting in 2000 which has since become a great passion, especially the ability to combine the medium of pastel and watercolour.
In 2003, Paul's work evolved once again and now depicts a more contemporary style whilst continuing to portray images of the Tasmanian wilderness.
Paul only uses the finest watercolour paper which Arches made in France with which he is able to achieve the effect he is happy with.
Paul is inspired by water scenes and loves the aesthetic calming quality and the beauty of water. Being an artist, Paul appreciates the fact that he can see beauty in anything and everything which surround him.
Paul has been exhibiting at the former Tasmania Shop and Gallery for over four years where his work has been well received. He was selected as one of the finalists in the 2009 John Glover Art Prize and has won the Eskleigh Art Prize for 2009.
