Rhonda Lisson

Rhonda was born in Melbourne Victoria and attended school at 'Stratherne' Presbyterian Ladies College in Hawthorn. She studied art at Frankston TAFE and Secretarial Studies at Holmes Commercial College in Melbourne.

Unfortunately, due to the sudden death of her father she was unable to continue with an artistic career and followed secretarial work, helping to support her family.

It was not until later in life did she persue her love of art and enrolled once agian at Frankston TAFE to study further. From there Rhonda was fortunate to study with the renowned Freya Dade who influenced her to participate in managing the Allerton Gallery in Mornington Victoria.

Whilst working at the Gallery, Rhonda joined the McCelland Artists' Society and studied with Gunther Kalbitzer at The McClelland Gallery, Langwarrin in Victoria. In 1992 she also studied with Anthony Prout OBE who is known for his beautiful watercolours of Venice.

In 1993 Rhonda was invited to attend a "work shop" with Melbourne's most popular watercolourists David Taylor. His use of colour and the boldness acheived, due to his confidence with the medium, was exhilarating to watch.

In the past twelve months Rhonda has been painting in oil paint and thoroughly enjoying the mediums fluency. Her paintings of children flying kites at the seaside have been so popular and this style has taken Rhonda on another road of artistic talent.

Her work has been represented at The Garth Gallery in Blairgowrie, The Allerton Gallery, Mornington, The Mornington Art Show, Rosebud Art Show, Flinders Art Show, The Herald Art Show and in private collections in the USA.

Since moving to Hobart in 1994, Rhonda has been represented at the Sidewalk Gallery, The Hythe Gallery and at the former Tasmania Shop and Gallery. She has exhibited successfully at the Hobart City Mission, The Hobart Rotary Art Exhibition and the Wrest Point Art Awards each year.
